Deduction under U/S 16(iii) for a senior citizen retired on 31.12.2019 E Filing

I am a senior citizen and retired on 31.12.2019 and for financial year 2019-2020 my Form 16 shown an deduction under Professional tax (u/s(iii)) for Rs 1800.00 but after December 2019 I am a senior citizen and when in efiling site I choose Nature of employment as :_ Pensioner this tab is ineffective and the prefilled data shows as Nil . Do I continue with the same and do not claim this deductions. I think being a senior citizen and pensioner I am not eligible for this deduction. Need some guidance so that I can fill up my efile return.

I am really helpful in this forum and always got the right answer .

Thanks for your valuable time.

Quick Summary
A senior citizen retired on 31.12.2019 is seeking guidance on claiming a professional tax deduction (U/S 16(iii)) on their e-filed tax return. Initially, their Form 16 showed a deduction, but the e-filing portal displayed it as nil after selecting 'Pensioner' as the nature of employment. After some discussion, it was clarified that the individual should show their employer twice in the filing: once for the period they worked and again as a pensioner, allowing the deduction to be claimed for the former period.

You have to show the employer twice. first as other employee For 9 months and the second time as pensioner.

In the first case, you can mention profession tax amount too.

How can I e-file twice?

I am ready to forgo this deduction and e-file my return as pensioner. I think it is ok.

Thanks for the response.

You have to file once but with details of 2 employers.
