Hello dear,
You can not claim 80D for medical expenses but 80DDB can be claimed for that (max. limit 40,000 for PY 19-20)... if you have incurred for py 18-19 & if it is for Senior citizen then the you can enjoy 80DDB upto 1,00,000RS. The limit for 80D is 25000 ( for senior citizen 50000)
so you can claim deduction of 80D is 25000.
80DDB-40000(if for py 18-19) or 50000(For Py 19-20)..
Correct me if any Mistake in interpretation of section..👍
W. e. f. 01/04/2019, for self and family, the maximum amount claimed on account of medical insurance and preventive health checkup is rs. 50000. so you can claim your medical insurance of rs. 25000 and preventive health checkup of rs. 5000 as well.
in addition, medical expenditures incurred to a maximum of rs. 50000/- in respect of parents (applicable to senior citizen parents) can be claimed under 80D. so you can claim medical expenditure of rs. 50000 incurred in respect of your parent subject to the condition that your parents are senior citizens
