As per situation you should registered yourself under CST, because without cst registration purchase cost will be higher but after registration you can made purchase on c form and your purchase price will be lower.

Purchase price is not an issue. without CST registration can i do this transaction.

without cst registration you cannot avail the credit of sales tax. So, you must take cst  registration.

hi i want to purchase incense sticks from tamil nadu and i am based in kolkata. can some one please tell me what  taxes iam liable for?

Answer for  Arun Question - Registration is not required in you only purchasing the goods and selling it with in the state. On permits as understood by me it comes under state Act and getting permit should not be a problem.

Answer for Shikha question - If you are providing Form C than it will be taxed @ 2%. If your not providing Form C than tax rate will be "rate applicable if the same goods is sold within the state (In your case it will be rate applicable in tamil nadu". This is general rule for any Inter state transactions. Check is there any exception for incense sticks. If not that above rule will apply.
