ATTENTION STUDENTS!

Applicability of the latest Finance Act and other changes for Company Secretaries June, 2011 Examination.

DIRECT TAXES

All students may note that for the June 2011 Examination Session in respect of Direct Taxes the applicable Assessment Year shall be 2011-12 (Previous Year 2010-11). Thus, they will have to study Finance Act, 2010 for June 2011 Examination. Further as per the Syllabus, (of Executive Programme and Professional Programme) students are required to update themselves about all the Circulars, Clarifications, Notifications, etc., issued by the CBDT & Central Government, which come into effect on or before six months prior to the date of the respective examinations.

Gift Tax Act has been excluded from the scope of the examination from June 1999 session onwards unless otherwise informed.

INDIRECT TAXES

Students appearing in the ‘Tax Laws’ (Indirect Tax Portion to the extent of topics covered in the syllabus, of ‘Executive Programme’) and Advanced Tax Laws and Practice (Professional Programme) respectively may take note of the following changes applicable for June 2011 Examination.

1. All changes made by the Finance Act, 2010.

2. All Circulars, Clarifications/Notifications issued by CBEC / Central Government which became effective six months prior to the date of examination.

IMPORTANT DATES 

Registration as a student

Registration is open throughout the year.

 

Foundation Programme examination

Candidates registered up to and including the month of March are eligible to take Foundation examination earliest in December in the same year and those registered up to and including September can take up the examination in June next year subject to satisfactory completion of coaching.

 

Executive examination

Candidates registered upto and including the month of February in a year are eligible for appearing in both the Modules of the Executive examination held in December of that year and those registered upto and including the month of August in a year are eligible to appear in the Executive examination held in June of next year subject to satisfactory completion of coaching. Candidates registered as students up to and including May in a year are eligible for appearing in any one Module only of the Executive examination held in December of that year and those registered up to and including the month of November in a year are eligible for appearing in any one Module only in June examination of next year subject to completion of coaching, computer training & other requirements (as per the guidelines of the Institute) in the Module they intend to appear.  

Professional examination

A student is admitted to the Professional examination only after a minimum period of nine calendar months has elapsed since his passing the Executive examination.

Last Date For Receipt Of Response Sheets

Last date for receipt of response sheets including resubmission in the Institute from the candidates who wish to be considered for enrolment for the examination to be held in June is 28 February & in December is 31st August . These dates have been fixed keeping in view the enrolment dates of the examinations and thus no request for extension of time beyond the stipulated dates will be entertained.

(Students are advised not to wait up to last date. They should submit their response sheets at the earliest well in advance for timely processing & issuance of suggested answers)

Months of examination

The examinations are conducted twice a year in June and December.

Last date for receipt of enrolment applications for examination in the Institute 

  • 25th March (with late fee of Rs. 100, 9th April) for June examination:
  • 25th September (with late fee of Rs. 100, 10th October) for December examination.

Foundation Programme 

Eligibility

 

  • Candidates who have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) examination of a Board/University constituted by law in India or any examination recognised by the Central Government as equivalent thereto are eligible. 
  • Provisional admission is allowed to a candidate who has appeared or enrolled for appearing in Senior Secondary (10+2 or equivalent) examination , provided proof of passing the examination is produced within 6 months of making the application.
  • Admission is open throughout the year by making an application in the prescribed Form FC-1 together with documentary evidence in support of date of birth and educational qualification.
  • Duration of Foundation Programme is 8 months, excluding the months of admission and the examination.
  • Foundation Programme students are required to pass the Foundation examination within 3 years from the date of their admission

Elements of Business Laws and Management

 

Exemption From Foundation Examination


A candidate possessing any of the following qualifications or any other qualifications recognised by the Council of the ICSI with the approval of the Central Government as equivalent thereto, is exempted from passing the Foundation examination

  • A Degree or master's degree in Corporate Secretaryship
    or Commerce
  • Pass in the Final examination of the Institute of Cost and Works Accounts of India(ICWAI) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants(ICAI) of India or any other Accountancy Institution in India or abroad recognised as equivalent thereto by the Council: or
  • A degree or master's degree in any discipline other than Fine Arts.

A candidate who is eligible for exemption from the Foundation examination under clause (iii) stated above can seek registration as student. Such a candidate before becoming eligible for undergoing coaching for the Intermediate examination is required to undergo satisfactorily a course of postal or oral tuition for those subjects of the Foundation examination which he had not studied at the graduate or post graduate level, after registration as a student.

GUIDELINES FOR REGISTRATION DE NOVO

(Registration de novo pursuant to regulation 22 read with sub-regulation (2) of regulation 24.)

 

(A)     Guidelines for candidates seeking registration de novo within two years of the expiry of previous registration.

1. A person whose registration has been cancelled on expiry of five-years period or otherwise may within two years of cancellation of former registration seek registration de novo on payment of the following fees:

(i) Registration fee: Rs.1500 

(ii) - (a) Where a student has not completed coaching for both modules (groups) of Executive Programme (Intermediate)/all modules (groups) of Professional Programme (Final), balance of Rs.5,000 of the postal tuition fee if enrolled for Executive Programme (Intermediate) or balance of Rs. 7,500, if enrolled for Professional Programme (Final), as the case may be, after adjusting the amount paid on this account earlier. However, credit for having completed coaching in a particular module (group) may be given if the coaching completion certificate has not been issued due to invalid registration or any other reason.

         (b) Postal tuition fee of Rs 7500 in the case of students who have passed the Executive Programme (Intermediate) examination but not enrolled for the Professional Programme (Final).

         (c) Arrears of postal tuition fee, if due, under former registration where the students have been issued with coaching completion certificate(s) for both modules (groups) of Executive Programme (intermediate)/all modules (groups) of Professional Programme (Final) as the case may be.

2. On the student being registered do novo he/she will be given credit for the oral or postal tuition completed during the validity of his previous registration in the corresponding paper(s) of the new syllabus. Such a student shall not be supplied with the study material afresh. Study material can however be obtained on payment of Rs. 160 per subject. Student Company Secretary will be sent free of cost during the validity period of registration de novo from the month subsequent to the month in which the student was registered de novo.

(B)     Guidelines for candidates seeking registration de novo after two years of the expiry of previous registration.

1. A person whose registration has been cancelled or has terminated on expiry of five-year period and has not sought registration de novo within two years of the expiry of former registration may seek registration de novo within 5 years of the cancellation/termination of his former registration on payment of the following fees:

   (i)  Registration fee                                                                             Rs. 1500

  (ii)  Exemption fee for

      (a)  Foundation Programme                                                              Rs.   500

(b)    Executive Programme (Inter) Examination

   (if already passed)                                                                       Rs.    500

(iii)  Paperwise exemption fee

      (a)  Executive Programme (Inter)                                                      Rs.   100  per paper

      (b)  Professional Programme (Final)                                                 Rs.    100  per paper

(iv)     Where a student has not completed coaching for both modules (groups) of Executive Programme (Inter)/all modules (groups) of Professional Programme (Final); balance of Rs. 5,000 of the postal tuition fee, if enrolled for Executive Programme (Inter) or balance of Rs. 7,500 if enrolled for Professional Programme (Final), as the case may be. However, credit for having completed the coaching in a particular module may be given if the coaching completion certificate has not been issued due to invalid registration or any other reason.

  (v)  Rs. 7,500 in the case of students who have passed the Executive Programme (Inter) but not enrolled for the Professional Programme (Final).

(vi)  Arrears of postal tuition fee, if due, under former registration where the students have been issued with coaching completion certificates for both modules (groups) of Executive Programme (Inter)/all modules (groups) of Professional Programme (Final).

2. On the student being registered de novo, he will be given credit for the oral or postal tuition completed during the validity of his previous registration in the corresponding paper(s) at the new syllabus. Dear Sir ,

I am doing CA Final as  well as B.com Final , can i join or register for the CS inter before the 28 th feb and eligible for the Dec 2011 attempt , if yes , what is the procedure for registration ?
