Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the process of obtaining a Permanent Account Number (PAN) for a government-aided school in West Bengal. It explains that while government schools may not directly require a PAN, one is necessary for deducting Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on salaries, which requires a Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number (TAN). The advice leans towards forming an Association of Persons (AOP) or a Trust, with AOP often being more beneficial, to apply for both PAN and TAN, especially for opening a bank account.
Government school? there's no requirement for pan for government school. I think, you might want to deduct TDS on salary. TDS to be deducted under Tan... so apply for tan
TAN AND PAN HAS SEPERATE SIGNIFICANCE BOTH ARE REQUIRED. TAN IS REQUIRED FOR PERSONS DEDUCTING TAX AT SOURCE. PAN STANDS FOR PERMANENT ACCOUNT NUMBER FOR TAXPAYERS. BOTH ARE REQUIRED. APPLY FOR PAN AND TAN WITH A COPY OF TRUST DEED or AOP AS DECIDED BY YOUR MANAGING COMMITTE. GO FOR AOP.. IT WILL BE BENEFICIAL.
