Courier bill of entry with 6 digits number not valid in gst

Hello there,

This is regarding claiming Input Tax Credit on Import of Goods.

I've received a Bill of Enry from the Courier company (Aramex & Fedex). Both the BOE has 6 digit & 5 digit numbers respectively, however both the numbers are termed as INVALID  in GST website under GSTR-2. As per the website the BOE number has to be in 7 digits.

And as per the courier company, it was a manually filed Bill of Entry. I don't know what it meant.

How can I get the actual BILL OF ENTRY number.

Please help.

I was having same issue with a courier shipment imported via. Fedex.

Wherein the BOE (Bill of Entry) No. was:- CBE-XIII_DEL_2017-2018_0112_52512

I called fedex customer service on 1800-22-6161 and they informed me that the 7-digit bill of entry number is the last 7 digits of the bill of entry number (see numbers in bold). So, the 7-digit bill of entry number for GSTR-2 purpose will be 1252512.

Since BOEs are issued by customs, the last 7 characters of a BOE number (excluding special characters like space, "-", "_", "/", etc.) have to be numbers and not alphabets. If this is not true for shipments via other courier companies then, call the company to confirm correct BOE number.

WHAT IS THE PORT CODE OF DELHI IF THE GOODS ARE CLEARED THROUGH COURIER BILL OF ENTRY

You can figure out the Airport from the courier bill of entry, but if in doubt, you can always confirm with the courier company (provide them the shipment/tracking details to assist you).  Once the Airport is identified, search the internet for it's Port code  or just search for a list of all Port Codes.

Sir, can we claim ITC for import of goods in courier mode? FedEx import BOE is not showing in GSTR-2A data.

BOE will not be shown in GSTR-2A. When you file your import purchase bill it means you are claiming ITC. And the data like BOE no, Date and Port code is sufficient for the GSTN to match the data. If the data do not match, you will get mail from GSTN to file with the correct information

Hi,

Thanks for quick response. I have a question: is this valid to claim ITC for BOE filed in Customs under Courier import mode?

My accountant told me that I cannot claim ITC for this import as it is not available in GSTR2B report. Cargo BoE are listed there from ICEGATE but FedEx cleared Courier Mode BoE is not listed there.

usually integrated tax amount is visible in GSTR2B. We too are importers. Check the date when is the BOE cleared. download excel file of GSTR2B and see all the import bill details.

Hi, Thanks for reply.

Courier mode import by FedEx is not listed in GSTR-2B IMPG sheet.I have attached BoE. Your BoE also looks similar?

You import in Air courier mode or Cargo mode?

Tushar, Even I am facing same issue.  Received material through FEDEX and unable to trace Port.

You should have received courier bill of entry showing IGST and Duty calculation or total, it will also mention the Port of clearance. Ask for it from the courier company if you didn't receive along with courier delivery.

Courier Bill of Entry will Not be reflected in GSTR-2A but you can still avail ITC. Here is a link to the Press Release (reproduced below) regarding the same:  https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1649521

Import data in GSTR-2A

Posted On: 29 AUG 2020 5:12PM by PIB Delhi

Two new tables have been inserted in GSTR-2A for displaying details of import of goods from overseas and inward supplies made from SEZ units / SEZ developers. Taxpayers can now view their bill of entries data which is received by the GST System (GSTN) from ICEGATE System (Customs). The present data upload has been done on a trial basis to give a feel of the functionality and to get feedback from the taxpayers on the same.

Currently, the system is displaying data up to 6th August, 2020. Further, taxpayers may note that system is currently does not contain import information for bill of entries filed at non-computerized ports (non-EDI ports) and imports made through courier services/post office. This will be made available shortly.

It may also be noted that amendment information made in the details of bill of entries will also be provided soon.

Taxpayers are requested that they share their feedback through raising a ticket on the self-service portal (https://selfservice.gstsystem.in/)

Hey

Can we claim IGST paid while import.

My shipment was delivered via fedex and courier bill of entry was issues which is not visible on icegate.

Thus the ITC for the imports are not shown in GSTR2B.

So how to claim IGST paid for import?

Please help.

Thanks

Can anyone here pls help me in this?

i imported through fedex and courier bill of entry was issues.

and the igst amount is not shown on GST portal for ITC.

and the courier bill of entry is also not visible on icegate portal.

I have noted instances of ITC on courier bill of entry now being reported in GSTR-2A (see attached screenshot). So try fetching the icegate data manually to see if it also fetches the details for courier.

Refer below link to know how to fetch the data manually through your GST portal login.
