Don't go for High sounding writers,
go with simple books...
1st try solving b.com level problems and basic problems..
then you should go for Study mat n Practice manuals....

But Institute Mat would help you a lot..
try solving all the illustration of Study mat.....
Don't take it ''Its tough'' take it as ''I'll do it''

Costing is my life , after reading this heading i thought you love so much this subject but after knowing all you are afraid from this..
but seriously i wanna say costing is my life. i love this subject so much
here are some tips to get score in costing..
First thing you need to do is return ur padhuka book back to bookseller or give to any friend as a gift its a book which needed at last.it cant clear concepts
buy a simple book which contains relevant chapters of a just bcom level. cover it fully then go for study material & then if time allows go for pratice manual and padhuka .
definately you would score very good marks.
Solve and master practice manual of both subjects.Also solve the entire RTP and then see the result.
Have gone through the same feeling.. Guess by my 3rd attempt i was in love with it.. See it from a comprehensive point of view.. then segregate and u will find a beautiful linkage...
Topics like Marginal Costing and Std Costing are actually beautiful.. I would have used the "S" word actually...
But CAclub would have banned me then.. Refer Vashist and Saxena for clarity of concepts and work out institute problems!!
Go for Rajesh makkar's notes. It can b easily done till nov n wil help u in clearing d concept.

Ya, I know it is a bit difficult. But we have to learn it ,since it constitute 32% of the paper.
Learn it on DAILY basis. Inbetween practical subjects...
For theory alone-u can use C.A.Hariharan sir book . (it contains past 25 exam answers. So even if u dont want to buy, its ok. Just learn these answers thoroughly)

The only secret of passing/getting exemption in costing & fm is:
CONCEPTUAL LEARNING!!!
first do saxena vashisht book main book
then do problem and practice of sn maheshwari
but book books after institute material
do this chapterwise
den last 4 rtp + 3 mock papers
Costing and FM will Tough / Easy based on our Preperation methods.
1. Dont forget to Read Theory since it covers Approx 20 Marks.
2. Workout First two Problems after seeing the answer. There after try to answer fuly with out seeing answer untill you complete.
3. Practice to write Assumptions and notes while practicing (Your answer is worthless with out proper assumptions and notes)
4. All of us miss Minimum 6 Marks in costing by careless mistakes Eg : not writing Units , Rs, Kgs, Hours ets.... For Instance if the question requires to find answer in kgs of output, with out our conciousness the answer will we write will be Units of Output..
5. Padkuka is Best book for Costing in IPCC it may be voluminous but still Excellent to Pass.
6. Practice by working down the problems with pen and paper, we are not auditing the Answer by seeing it.
Be strong with Basics - Cost Concepts , Type of costs etc . Then it is easy to get 50 marks if you workout all problems even Once.
At Exam your duty is to Write for 3 Hours Dont care if it goes wrong skip it for last and workout other problmes.
Dont Miss out Compulsory Questions.
Dont ever Change your books Once you coverd it fully once. Try to Identify where it goes wrong.
Dont Read Same Subject Continously for More than 4 Hours a Day.
Have your own study Plan.
