Dear friends, i am Shravya from Nellore. I have completed my intermediate and now i am preparing for ICWA foundation for which i have the attempt in June 2012. I cannot go to any coaching for certain limitations and i have to do it on my own. I am studying the materials provided by the ICWA board. But i am facing a big problem with Cost Accounting subject. I could'nt understand the subject of Cost Accounting in the board material. So friends, please tell me a good book for Cost Accounting to learn basicss properly.

First try "Lectures on costing" by L Swaminathan (Sultan chand & Co) to understanding basics. You will get only old edition.

Next try books by Saxena & Vashishta for ICWAI (now ICAI Intermediate) the one for theory and the one for problems and solutions. There are lots of solved problems.

If you feel you have time to learn the cost accounting basics, then you must refer Jain & Narang Cost Accounting book (Kalyani publications). Definitely, you will feel the subject more easy. But I feel cwa material is also good, I hope you have downloaded the latest revised cwa material from their site. The study material given was in brief to the extent required for cwa inter level, that is more than enough at inter level. If you still want to refer in detail, then above book surley helps you. Hope this helps you.

Dear krishna, what is the standard of the book(Kalyani) suggested by you? Is it of the CWA foundation level or Inter level? Thanking you

hiii shravya i would suggest u to refer ashish kalra sir book in costing subject.........i find it best during preparation for my CA as well as CWA Inter exams........
