I am a seamen. My remittances sent to indian nre account is less than the total wages earned as per contract letter. While filing tax in india, i should show the total wages on contract letter or remittance sent to my nre account in india.

The question arises........... why the difference....... whether you receive the difference amount by any other means?

Usually some amount is retained onboard for personal expenditure. Also some amount is paid in cash (US dollars) at the end of contract.

You can file return, based on your actual receipts (bank & cash, other than what is retained). If any salary statement is given, follow that.
