In Depreciation(cpt) Under Straight Line method When to Use this formula SL=(Cost of asset -scrap) value /life and when to use wihout subtrating scrap value i.e cost of asset/life.

But in one question cost=100000 life=5Year and Scrap value=2000. Is given and answer give rs20000.how?

i think that scrap value is actually realised.. Bt in the formula while calc'ng depn it is not simply a scrap value, it is "Estimated scrap value".
