whether change of category of deductor i.e Government to Others or vice versa in TAN particulars will have any effect on the returns filed earlier electronically?. For example an organization while applying for TAN indicates the category of deductor as Government and files returns electronically. But payment of tax deducted is made through Challan (Cheque), thereby the tax deducted is not deposited into Govt. account on the same day. It is obvious that notice will be served for payment of interest for late payment. At a Later date sasy after a year or two, the category of deductor is changed to others (Autonomous body). Clarification sought is whether the change of category of deductors now will prevent the generation of notice for payment of ineterest for late payment by NSDL for earlier periods for which returns have been filed electronically
Example : Category of deductor is indicated as Government while applying for TAN . The notice for payment of interest for late payment is received as the tax deducted at source is not deposited into Govt Account on same day. (say for the year 2007-08)
During 2010-11 the category of deductor is changed as 'Autonomous Body'-(Others ) Whether this change will have the effect on returns filed earlier say for the year 2007-08 and will it prevent the generation of notice for payment of interest for late payment;
Looking forward for a clarifiction
