Quick Summary
If your employer has deducted TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) but you haven't filed your Income Tax Return (ITR), you may still be eligible to claim a refund. However, filing your ITR is crucial for this. While you can typically claim a refund for the previous financial year, returns for earlier years cannot be filed, making refunds impossible for those periods. There are specific deadlines for filing, and late filing may incur penalties.

You need to file in due course to claim refund. Return filing is mandatory.
You should file your return otherwise refund will not be credited you and late fee will be imposed
To claim refund today is the last date to file itr
Return can be filed upto 31-03-2021 but from tomorrow it will be with penalty 234F.

So refund you can still claim upto 31-03-2021 and later also under 119(2) approval
You can claim refund of last year income onley. years previous to the previous year return cannot be filed so it is not possible to claim refund
