Quick Summary
If the account holder of a Capital Gains Tax account has passed away, their legal heir can still invest the capital gains to claim exemption under Section 54EC. This process involves withdrawing funds from the deceased's account. It's crucial to be aware of the deadlines for claiming exemptions, as these are strictly enforced and apply only to long-term capital gains.
