Quick Summary
If your GST number has been cancelled and the revocation period has passed, you have a few options. You can file an appeal with the appellate authority for restoration. Alternatively, you might need to apply for a fresh GST registration, though it's advisable to communicate with your jurisdictional officer first to avoid potential future issues. Some users have found success in filing pending returns and paying taxes, then requesting revocation online even after the deadline, with approval depending on the tax officer.
The same incident happened to me as well. But I filed all the returns and paid applicable taxes till the date of cancellation and applied for revocation in the portal inspite of expiry of 30 days from cancellation The same has been revoked by the officer
Its better that you communicate with your jurisdictional officer for revocation because you may face problem in future while doing any work on gst portal
You can submit Application for revocation of cancellation of registration after 30 days. but The approval depends on Tax officer mindset. Everything is online and no need to visit nearest GST office.
You file all your pending returns, till month of cancellation and make a request, giving reasons for delay, for revocation of cancellation through portal only, if system still allows. Jurisdictional officer will consider your request if you have cleared your tax liabilities. Visiting jurisdictional office is of no use. If system doesn't allow then contact GSTN for allowing you to make online request for revocation.
