Cancellation of gst registration

Is there any seperate penalty for cancellation of GST registration by principal officer for not filing returns for 6 tax periods?

Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies that while there isn't a specific separate penalty for cancelling GST registration due to non-filing of returns, penalties for the non-filing itself can still be applied. To continue operating as a GST-registered business, all pending returns must be filed, along with late fees and interest. Failure to do so could lead to assessment under Section 63, potentially resulting in liability payment and further penalties.

If you want to continue your business as GST Registered business....You will have to file all the pending returns and have to pay late fee including interest for gst on outward supply made.

There is possibility to carry assessment under section 63 which proper office may pass order to pay liability if your registration is cancelled u/s 29(2), and liability are till unpaid arisen during registration period. there proper officer may impose penalty as hs deems fit.

No, there is no separate penalty mentioned in the GST Act for cancellation of GST registration. But penalty for non filing of returns can be charged.
