Cancellation of 15ca and 15 cb

What is the procedure if 15 CA and 15 CB are filed and due to some issues there is a need of changes in the forms as 15 CA can be withdrawn only within one week, as in the case there is no chance to withdraw as the period of 1 week has been missed unutilised. As of now 15 CA is also cannot be withdrawn.

What are the consequences

As far as i know we cannot revise the forms.

Is there only option to file fresh 15 CA and 15 CB or is there is any procedure to revise?

Udin has to be revocked for previous 15 CB?

What about the previous forms 15 CA and 15 CB, are they should be left like that?

Hey Bindu, here’s a clear breakdown regarding your query on Form 15CA and 15CB revision or cancellation:

Can Form 15CA and 15CB be withdrawn or revised?

  • Form 15CA:
You can withdraw Form 15CA within one week of filing through the TRACES portal. After one week, withdrawal is not allowed.

  • Form 15CB:
There is no concept of withdrawal or revision for Form 15CB once issued by the Chartered Accountant.

What if you missed the 1-week window to withdraw 15CA?

  • Unfortunately, you cannot withdraw the original 15CA after one week.

  • No option to revise or amend the existing Form 15CA or Form 15CB.

What should you do now?

  1. File fresh Form 15CA and Form 15CB with the correct details.

  2. You cannot revoke the UIN (Unique Identification Number) generated against the previous 15CB.

  3. The previous forms will remain in the system, but the new set will be considered for tax deduction purposes.

  4. Ensure that you reference the new UIN and fresh forms while making the remittance.

Consequences of not filing fresh forms?

  • Non-compliance or incorrect filing may lead to issues with the remitting bank.

  • Possible delay or rejection in remittance processing.

  • Potential notice or penalty from the tax department for incorrect reporting.

Summary:

Action Possible? Notes
Withdraw 15CA after 1 week No Withdrawal window expired
Revise 15CA No Must file fresh form
Revise 15CB No Cannot be revised or withdrawn
Revoke UIN from previous 15CB No UIN stays valid but fresh forms should be filed
