Can i take input gst in april of which invoice raised in feb

Hi my self P V BALA KRISHNA,

I have missed to take input gst in February. Can i avail the same input gst in April month of which invoice dated in February?

It is assumed that Feb and Apr mean Feb 2019 and Apr 2019.

You may take the credit in April 2019 provided (i) the same is reflected in your GSTR-2A for Feb 2019 or at least in March 2019 and (ii) in your annual return for 2018-19 you will give the reason for the difference between GSTR-2A and ITC availed for 2018-19 as will be availed in next year i.e. 2019-20.

I am sorry to admit that I am not clear as to how the second condition stated by me can be met. There is no column in Annual Return for 2017-18 for information on ITC available but will be availed in next year. Hence, probably, in Annual Return for 2018-19, if the same format is there, how to give information on ITC available but will be availed in next year is not clear. Columns 8(E) and 8(F) mention ITC available but not availed and ITC available but ineligible. If you put in column 8(E), the ITC will lapse in current year itself. If you put zero in both 8(E) and 8(F), I am not sure whether System will permit, since column 8(D) will not be explained. Column 8(C) will be useful for availing during current year ITC available in previous year but availed during current year. But, how to give information on ITC to be availed in next year? Thus, in the annual return for 2018-19, I am unable to say how to give information on credit available for Feb invoice 2019 invoice but will be availed in 2019-20. Once again, I am sorry.

I want to correct few portion of my suggestion. Column 8(C) of Annual return deals with ITC available during the current year but carried to next year and availed in next year. Thus, in annual return for 2018-19, you have to include in Column 8(C) ITC for Feb 2019 invoice which you want to avail in 2019-20. Accordingly, it will not lapse. The problem is how the same will be reflected in annual return 2019-20 is not clear to me. Once again sorry.

There is further development. As I told, you have to include in Column 8(C) ITC (appearing in Part III) of annual return for 2018-19 for Feb 2019 invoice which you want to avail in 2019-20. In annual return for 2019-20, in Part V, serial no 10, you have to report the very same item. The only pending issue is that in annual return for 2019-20, how column 8(D) will be reconciled is not clear.
