Quick Summary
You can still file pending Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for FY 2021-22. For cases with tax liability, you can file an updated ITR under Section 139(8A), which incurs late fees of £1,000 or £5,000 depending on income, and requires paying 125% of the tax due if income exceeds £2.5 lakhs. For refund cases, you'll need permission from the JCIT to file under Section 119(2)(b), as updated ITRs are not applicable for refunds.

You can file updated ITR u/s. 139(8A) of IT act, wherever there is any tax liability.

For refund cases you can file return u/s 119(2)(b) of the act, after getting permission from JCIT.

ITR U can be filed with late fees of 1000/5000 u/s 234F.
You can file ITR u/s 139(8A) if income is above 2.5 lakhs.

Also in case of tax payable you have to pay 125% of tax amount.

In case of refund, you can't opt for return u/s 139(8A) because refund will not be allowed in case of return u/s 139(8A).
Late fees depends on on the Category of tax payer and income
Net Income is 270000 then in tht case late fee 1000 have to pay or tax 125% ?
