Can I do it? Edit: Study partner?

I wrote my PCC attempt in nov 2010, but couldn't clear it. I was absent for two papers (lack of preparation), but my marks were:

140 in group 1 - 47 in accounts, 45 in law and 48 in audit

and I got 64 in information technology, but no exemption since I was absent for two papers.

My preparation for these exams was about a week and the days before the exam, but only for a few hours. I don't really respond well to stress, so I avoid studying. I mostly read notes I downloaded from creative wonder, and didn't really prepare much at all.

My question is, I have less than two months left and no choice but to finish PCC in the next attempt. CAN I STILL DO IT?

Is the only way of doing it... to study for ten hours a day or so? I can't seem to study for more than two. D:

My income tax knowledge is limited to the extreme basics (I know the first few chapters, maybe but no heads of income, and no service tax) I've got about 20% of FM done.

If anyone happens to be online, please respond. I'm really scared ;(

ya 10hours per is enough

1st you prepare well in 1st group.

for 2nd just u try for pass..........

pls dont panic.c there is no pint studying for long if u r not getting things right.as there has to b quality in studying and not quantity.refer padhukas for all subjects.and for tax refer girish ahuja in addition to padhuka.and do scanners atleast 2-3 times.i did self study and i beleive if i can crack it ,then anybody can crak it.and u still hv good 2 months.u can do it.go for it and gv ur best shot.jst hv confidence in urself and jst dont underestimate urself.everybody is intelligent enough to crack it.jst b focussed.and for it refer dinesh madan.

Pavan Kumar Dube: Thank you, I'll try to study for as long as I can.

Ashima: Thank you. I guess you ARE right about the quality > quantity.

I'm using padhuka's for tax and cfm, but I'm skipping a lot of sums.

For auditing I'm using surbhi bansal notes + a master notes of about 70 pages I found online. Is that not enough for about 50 marks? Is there anywhere I can find case studies?

if  you think you can, you can do it for sure.

There is no point in Worrying.

Do start preparation ,then automatically you will be in the flow of Study.

You wiil be surprised by the Syllabus you have covered.

Ok.

i m not aware abt case studies.in padhukas there r many case studies for auditing y dont u refer that.and u hv to do those sums which u r skipping.u cannot afford to skip them.r u doing b.com(h) or something like that as well?for tax refer girish ahuja + problem and solution of tax by girish ahuja.practise as much as u can bt pls dont skip sums.if u hv doubts clear them bt dont skip sums.for cfm u can use ashish kalra book.

For auditing you dont need any case studies in my opinon, because i wrote 3 atmpts till now. 1st 55, 2nd 53 and now 51

Normal subject and concept understanding is enough

i will not say study for 10 hrs or 5 hrs... study by making small targets which u have to complete it in any how..only the thing which is matter is quality which u studies..And two months are sufficient to clear the exam.. no need to wrry abt... BAs quality which is matter in exam and Please dnt leave anything while preparartion.... And congrates that u had got such a gr8 marks in it and sm, really nice...Try this tyme also to get exemption in1 or 2 paper which is give you benefit of set off...Prepare practical subjects by solving personally not by juz watching them,,And most important take small break in 1 hrs, as this will increase ur concentration on that subject..

Regards

Pankaj

As pankaj rightly said try to cover all the topics.........

For tax u should be good in Service tax, VAT, Capital gains & B/P

Thank you everyone. You've been very helpful.
You guys are right. I'm just going to start studying, and I'll probably get into it. I'm not doing anything else, but I'm not able to study the whole day either. Family things D:

I'll try to do as many sums as I can, but I inevitably worry that if I focus on tax and CFM too much, I'll fail in everything else.
I guess I should do basic preparation, then try to finish other subjects and then go back and solve the sums I missed...

Thank you again to everyone who bothered to respond <3

Pankaj, missed your post.

Thank you for that. I AM happy about my marks in IT. Glad that I don't have much more to study there at least. I'm afraid I might not be able to maintain the marks I got this time, but I'm trying to get past that fear.

Pavan, I'll remember to focus on the topics you mentioned. Thank you. As it is I was thinking of focusing on service tax/vat and House Property, Salary and miscellaneous topics while just skimming through the rest because these seemed easier.

I'm actually doing self studies too, so I have to sit down and understand these and then remember them, which is what is making me panic. DX

K All The Very best

Out of curiosity (and sheer desperation) is there anyone on here who would be willing to be my study partner for the coming exams?

We could bounce doubts off each other, keep track of what we've finished etc. Preferably over IM - yahoo/msn/aim?

I don't know any other students who are doing PCC right now that I could do this with. I'd be very grateful.

How okay would you be with an ipcc-study-buddy? I mean, I'm done with my second group, so I'll be able to study 4 subjects with you. Accounts, Law, Tax and CFM..

What say?
