Can Health Insurance Claim Reimbursement be Tax Exempted?

520 views 3 replies

I have received ₹6Lac as claim reimbursement from Health Insurance company for treatment of my father. I am the policy holder and I pay annual premium of ₹57K. While I do avail tax deductions u/s 80D for the said premium, but I concerned about how can I get the reimbursed amount exempted. I have read somewhere that it can be availed u/s 10(10D) but since I don't see that option in ITR Form-1, I am confused.

By profession, I am a self-employed teacher and my income is <5L and I transact mostly in cash. Please help me with your kind advise on my abovementioned concern.

Read your policy terms, the tax exemption clause would have been clarified there.

File ITR2
Health insurance claim reimbursement is tax exempted.
