Can an individual who is a student claim deduction of Tuition Fees paid for self under section 80C

Hello Everyone,

I have a question regarding claiming deduction of Tution fees paid for self under section 80C

The Assessee is a full time student pursuing BTech Final year and has earned taxable Income through stipend and freelance work during the Current financial year.

Please guide if it is allowable to claim the Tuition fees paid for self to his college under section 80C.

Thanks for your time to review and reply to my post.

Quick Summary
This discussion explores whether a full-time BTech student, earning income from a stipend and freelance work, can claim a deduction for their own tuition fees under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act. The consensus is that Section 80C specifically allows deductions for tuition fees paid for children, not for the individual's own educational expenses.

Tuition Fee for children only is allowed U/S 80C.

Tution Fees paid for self is not covered under 80C
