Can a revised return be filed after I get the assessment order

Hi,

I filed my return on 21st Dec 2020 for AY 20-21 and that duly got assessed and I got a assessment order with 'No payment due'. But recently I got a notification from e-campaign compliance and notified that I missed to show some amount of FD interests in my ITR. What should I do ? I paid the extra tax right away. But should I submit a revised return ? Please note that I already got a assessment order from income tax with 'No payment due' with my original return on Dec 2020 itself.

Please advice.

Quick Summary
If you've received an assessment order, even one stating 'no payment due', and later realise you've missed declaring income like FD interest, you can file a revised tax return. This allows you to correct any figures, including deductions, provided it's done before the deadline, typically March 31st of the relevant financial year. It's advisable to do this promptly after identifying the error.

File a revised return before 31.3.21

Thanks. Can the deductions also be changed in the revised return ?

Yes you can file revised return and rectify any figures. on or before 31.3.2021, can be revised even if original itr processed.
