Can a revised income tax return be revised

2873 views 7 replies

I filed my income tax return on 18-07-2011. Then i got an intimation from IT Dept. to Revise my return on 24-11-2011. I revised my return on 08-12-2011 and got the refund amount on 15-03-2012. But when i cheked my 26AS i found that there is more amount of TDS deducted on my PAN then the TDS claimed in my return. So now to claim the remaining TDS i want to file a revised return again. Can i do the same. Please advice. Thanks in Advance.

RETURN CAN BE REVISED ANY NO OF TIMES RETURN CAN BE REVISED ANY NO OF TIMES IF THE ORIGINAL REURN U/S 139(1) IS FILED ON TIME.case law:Dr N SHRIVASTAVA

U can revise the return the revise any number of time but before processingf of return

And if u want to calim the extra TDS shown in 26AS then u have to also consider income against the same TDS and if u have already shown the income of said TDS then no problem

AND ALSO ENSURE THE TDS DEDUCTED ON YOUR PAN BELONGS TO YOU

IF U HAVE DO NOT HAVE ANY CONNECTION WITH SAID TDS AND AVAILAMENT OF BENEFIT OF SAID TDS WILL BE ILLEGAL AND IT WILL CAUSE LOT OF PROBLEMS TO YOU

Yes you can revise the Return and any number of time upto the time limit specified in sec 139(5) .

consider the tds and the related income if any and file the return correctly.

you can file a revised return, any time before completion of assessment or the specified period which ever is earlier.  in your case,  it seems assessment is completed and u got refund,  so the revision is not possible.

t/l ---w/in 1 year from the end of relevent AY

in ur case, the assessment is complete, so you can not file the revised return

Intimation is only processing of returns and not assessment of Income
