Can a debit note be booked as invoice?

Can a debit note be booked as Invoice?  I have received debit note received for 2017 expense in 2018?

I paid it this year & need to book expense. But when booking in AP module I used debit note # & booked as invoice? Is it correct or need to request for invoice copy.

Booked it as debit note pertaining to original invoice no... I mean in against which invoice number debit note is issued.... Mentioned in that debit note record book... It helps u

What is the nature of the Debit Note...?
Where from get Debit note and the Expenses...?

 I have received debit note for consultancy services of 2017 . 

I paid it in 2018.

Better u record it as debit note pertaining to original invoice related to 2017.....so its better for ur record that for which i made payment
