Q7 (a) - whether to take R&D cost included in the total cost or its a sunk cost.

R and D is future event. Thus relevant. Also, it says DESIGN Costs after R and D. Designing is yet to be done. Concept was to check if Sales Revenue will cover PRODUCT LIFE COST. This was a tricky question. And Answer was Product should not be manufactued. Product cost was more than max sales.

I can be absolutely wrong. I am repeater ! :)

Also market research was for sales expectation, Not R and D of product. So, relevant hai bhai logo...
