The BOCW Cess is a 1% levy on construction costs designed to support worker welfare. For EPC firms, it is vital to note that this applies to civil construction work but is generally not applicable to the supply of goods, machinery, or equipment. Proper contract bifurcation is recommended to avoid unnecessary tax liability.
