Bank deducted TDS but not reflected in AIS or Form 26AS

My question is belong to two category like ITR as well as TDS.

I am checking AIS and Form 26AS and particular bank deducted TDS on interest and it display in interest certificate provided by them.

Now I check that information in AIS , I think partial information available.

  1. In the section of term deposit list and interest they paid , I can see detail of interest paid.
  2. There is top section which display TDS information and here I don't see those TDS information.
    1. From my end, term deposit mention pan information and that is why interest is display.
    2. Why TDS information is not displayed ? ( Both AIS and 26AS).  As per interest certificate TDS deducted is 10% and that again confirm that bank has my pan card info.

Not sure what could be the reason ? Will it take time to display information in AIS and Form 26AS ?

Yes .

You can wait for sometime to allow for information update.

Alternately you can take up with your bank for the mismatch

If not showing in Form-26AS then the Bank should not be able to generate Form-16A.

You got interest certificate by the bank, hope it is showing TDS deduction.

Unless the bank deposits the TDS to the Govt, it will not show in Form-26AS and Form-16A cannot be provided.

So chase your bank, ask them why TDS not deposited to the Govt still. 31st May is the last day for depositing the TDS.

AIS data is data collected from Form-26AS.

Earlier, there was nothing called AIS, we all were managing with Form-26AS

Thanks for response.

To clarify,  Bank issued interest certificate and that also mention TDS they deducted . This is not Form 16A.  I can also see interest paid detail in AIS ( it contains all detail from Saving as well as FD). There is one section in AIS that also display tax deducted quaterwise and in this section information not displayed yet.

I am aware that AIS is comparatively new and Form 26AS. In this case TDS not displayed at both location.

@ spatel

Like I already wrote, bank ought to have deposited the TDS to the Govt.

Majority tax payers' 26-AS has been, almost fully updated by 31st May and showing all the TDS.

In your case, I strongly suspect problem at your bank, they have deducted TDS from you but not deposited to the Government.

If the bank does not deposit, the Govt law makes tax payer (you) as the culprit, you are supposed to push the TDS deductor to deposit the money to the Government.

If the TDS deductor does not deposit in time or never deposits, the individual, whose TDS is in limbo, would be forced to pay it to the Government, with penalty.

So push your bank with full force.

Approach their head office. Open the portal and send a manual and email.

Approach their local branch office also.

@ spatel

What Sabyasachi means is, send an email to bank head office with cc to the branch.

And send the same matter, on hard paper copy by Registered AD post to the bank head office.

Sometimes, or regularly, India post is very very fast and you may not get back the signed AD in 10 years even.

So, better to send the hard copy to bank head office by some pvt courier, like Blue dart, you will get back the proof of delivery within a few days. It may cost more compared to using India Post but is sure and certain.

@ spatel

I forgot to mention,

Deliver the paper notice to your bank manager (not some junior) by hand and get a copy of the same signed and stamped by him as proof of delivery.

@ ranjan

Thanks for update.

Initially they just said that, PAN may be issue. My point is that if PAN is the issue , how interest paid is reflected in AIS.  I believe most of the things work based on PAN.

I will keep update.

I also found this question of last year : TDS deducted but not reflected in 26 AS - Income Tax. Where @ Dhirajlal suggested to wait for few days as date at which it posted is similar range.
