Yes, Companies are required to do so As per Companies Act, 1956 Schedule VI part I

Companies are require to maintain balance sheet as per Schedule VI Part I of Companies Act

It is stated in PART 1, SCHEDULE VI of the companies Act,1956.

Companies can prepare balance sheet as prescribed in schedule VI. It can be either vertical or horizontal.

Answer "

Ref Sec. 211 of Co.Act 1956 read with Sch.VI Part I (Inserted by Notification No. GSR 220(E), dated 12th. March, 1979) or such other form as may be approved by the Central Government(till now no such formate has been approved by the Central Government.)
