if you feel that your father might have a taxable income in future it would be better if you file his return to maintain continuity.. if you feel that it is unlikely you can avoid it because it is not mandatory

u need to file return only if u hve taxable income in any yr.........

recently, a circular has been out by CBDT, which says that those assessee's who were having taxable income previously but, due to certain situations, like no more in service, or goinog out of country, they should atleast intimate the relevant A.O. that they don't hve any taxable income this yr. so that A.O.'s don't indulge in use less   144's,.......... I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE OF THE CIRCULAR BUT, IT WAS ISSUED RECENTLY, OR IT MIGHT BE SOME CLARIFICATION.........!!! SEARCH NET FOR CONFIRMATION...!!!!

Mr Vkas,

Can u be kind enough to your father with respectable words .Any way your father need not to file return, if he is not having taxable income.

Mr. Vikas... if ur father has any other income & if he is planning to take a loan in future then it is better to file return inspite of not liable to pay tax as bank requires 3 years filed return while granting loan....

hope Mr. Vikas u dont need any more clarification
