Are these taxes constitutional? or are they even logical?

Dear All,

It is so easy for us to learn about the newest of the taxes imposed by the governments & provide services to the taxpayers relating to their tax liabilities.

But, as true professionals, Thinkers & the most Strong & Effective link between the Tax Payers & the Tax Collectors, is it not our duty to just stop & think if the Taxes Imposed are really necessary.

In India, they Introduced service tax very politely & very defencively...Only on four or so services. Nobody objected to it & the Government got the first taste of the Tax Payer's money. Presently, Service tax fetches more revenue than Central Excise.

Just think about it.....Why would I pay Service Tax on my Lawyer's Bill, When he is already Paying Income Tax on it? It's his service that He SELLS & I Buy. It is his only source of Income & he DOES Pay Income Tax on it. Then what is the Logic behind SERVICE TAX??

Will the Legislators pay tax on the services provided by them to the NETAS? Do the government pay service tax to itself on the services(!!!!) they receive from their BABUS? Is evey Indian supposed to pay Service Tax while being employed, in addition to the Professional Tax (I don't know why it is a crime to earn an honest living in India)?

The Answers to the above questions are a "NO" but they can be answered by a "YES" considering the Ammendments they keep making to the Constitution only to extort monies from the un-protesting Indians.

Hope someone with some fight remaining in him/her shall think about it & take a step forward in confronting the govt. on imposition of such taxes.

Dear Sir,

I would like to share with you matter of man power.

We get labours from contractors. For which we us pay Rs. 449.44 per day. it break up is Rs. 400 to the labour (via contractor) and Rs. 49.44/- to the government as service tax. If we see this matter in a other way then we find that labor is paying Rs. 49.44/- as service tax to the government becuse he is the service provider. Now just think that a person who is earning just Rs. 400/- per day (in some cases even Rs. three hundreded or less) is paying taxes to the government at rate of 12.36%. We all know the situation of workers, who are working under contractors, they have neither home, have no living standards, there children spending their live at any how. Yet he is paying tax at this high percentage. A persong having income of Rs. 1500/- per day use to pay income tax @ of 10% only if they are salaried employee. Should not govt think this and give them some relaxations.
