Applicability of interest on short payment of tax in F.Y. 2017-18

Sir,
I am engaged in the trading activity of cement and made the short payment in GSTR-3B with comparison to GSTR-1 for the F.Y. 2017-18. The difference amount I have paid for the F.Y. 2018-19, through input tax credit and also maintained the sufficient balance in my ITC ledger. Pls suggest whether I am liable to pay the liability of interest or not.

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses whether interest is applicable on short payments of tax for the financial year 2017-18, specifically when the tax was later paid using input tax credit. While some suggest interest is always applicable at 18%, others argue it might not be if paid via the credit ledger. The consensus leans towards interest being applicable, as the benefit of paying through the credit ledger is limited by law.
