Am i eligible for 80gg deduction ?

I live in a rented apartment in mumbai. My only income is interest from bank deposits ( and I have no job/profession). Can I claim deduction under 80GG ? Am I eligible for it ? Please reply

yes, you can claim deduction under section 80gg.

Thanks Poonam for your prompt response. So if I understand correctly income from job/profession/self employment is not a requirement to claim deduction under 80GG, Am I right ??

I have not claimed 80GG deductions for FY2014-15,FY2015-16,FY2016-17 which I had filed in the past. Can I claim the deduction now ??? Can I file a revised return and under which section ???
