I have a query:
I have agricultural income and I have never ever filed a return in my life. I just applied for new PAN card. I will recieve it in april max.
The questions is: I never bothered about the reciepts I used to get after selling my crop. This time I will get the reciept. But, I will get the reciept in end of April after selling the crop.
So, just wanted to ask whether I can file the return in May for the year 2008-2009 and show the income of April crop in that?
The income of 2008-09, will be assesed in 09-10 only- filing of return will start only after 1st april.

If you want to file return in Assessment year 2008-09 (for income generated in 2007-08), you can file. However, make sure you file return before 31st March.
