Retained Earning is an american equivalent of Indian GAAP "Reserves & Surplus"

reatained earnings are the part of net profit which is not distributed to the shareholders or partners but are plough back to the bussiness for better condition . it has huge importance in accounts as it is the part of NP not distributed so it shown in the liablities side of business

it is upon the directors to decide the volume of retained earning and dividend
