Hi

I am an Employee drawing monthly salary. I would like to claim HRA. I am living with my parents in our own house. The house is in the name of my father. Can I claim HRA by showing rent rececipt, that I am paying rent to my father. Is it legal?
And, my dad has stopped working 2 yerars back as a salaried employee. He is not earning now, and all sources of his income put together doesn't exceed 2.0 lakhs.

Is its okay to proceed, My PAN card holder address and HRA would be the same, is it legal?

For claiming HRA pre requisite is that you should not own a house where you are residing. And as in your case your father is the owner therefore i believe it should not be troublesome if you show rent payment to him.

Admissible.You can claim interest paid.

Yes U can claim hra deduction. If u claim deduction as HRA more than rs. 100000 than u will have to provide PAN detail of ur farther

To claim HRA, it is condition that you should not be owner of the house in which you are living. So if the house is not in the name of you. then you can show that you are paying the rent to your father if the house is in the name of father.

it is totally legal.

Please clarify still the Husband is eligible to claim HRA if the House is in the name of wife.
There is restrictions on claiming of hra but you should pay to rent actually to your father instead of national payment

Yes, you can show that you are paying the rent to wife, then you can claim for rent paid under HRA received.
