can we claim deduction if insurance premium paid by spouse

No whoever paid the premium is only eligible for deduction....so you can not claim it
No... You can't claim deduction if paid by spouse...
When spouse has paid premium for your policy then 80C will be available in spouse return. (and not in your return)
