If u have registered under vat act then u can claim refund. U can claim it on basis of purchases.(the vat amt must be mentioned on Invoice)

Plz tell me clearly how to claim refund of input vat in the following situation
A ltd purchases 1000 units of input materials and export 400 units of finished products, manufactured from the matreials purchased. For 1 unit nof output it take 1 unit of input materials .Can we claim the refund on the units purchased i.e 1000 or the units export i.e 400 units

as far as i know u can take vat credit for whole purchase qty of 1000 unit .i don't know about treatment on exempt goods as far as export is concerned u surely take vat credit on whole purchses.
