Seeks to amend Notification No. 23/2003-CE, dated the 31st March, 2008 so as to omit certain entries and increase the rate of excise duty from 12% to 12.5% in respect of certain entries

New Delhi, the 1st March, 2015

G.S.R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 23/2003- Central Excise, dated the 31st March, 2003, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, subsection (i), vide number G.S.R. 266 (E), dated the 31st March, 2003, namely :-

In the said notification, in the TABLE, -

(i) serial numbers 1A and 1B and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted;

(ii) against serial number 5A, in column (4), for the entry “12%”, the entry “12.5%” shall be substituted;

(iii) against serial number 6, in column (4), for the entry “12%”, the entry “12.5%” shall be substituted;

(iv) against serial number 7A, in column (4), for the entry “12%”, the entry “12.5%” shall be substituted.
