Regarding an effective rate of excise duty of 12.5% on Motor Vehicles

Seeks to further amend Notification No. 12/2012-Central Excise dated 17.03.2012 to prescribe an effective rate of excise duty of 12.5% on Motor Vehicles falling under heading 8702 90 21, 8702 90 22, 8702 90 28 and 8702 90 29 of the First Schedule of the Central Exicse Tariff Act, 1985.

(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No.12/2012-Central Excise, dated the 17th March, 2012, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i) vide number G.S.R. 163(E), dated the 17th March, 2012, namely: -

In the said notification, in the Table, after serial number 277 and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and entries shall be inserted, namely: -
