In exercise of the powers conferred by section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), and in supersession of the Notification No.71/2021-Customs(N.T.), dated 2nd September, 2021 except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs hereby determines that the rate of exchange of conversion of each of the foreign currencies specified in column (2) of each of Schedule I and Schedule II annexed hereto, into Indian currency or vice versa, shall, with effect from 17th September, 2021, be the rate mentioned against it in the corresponding entry in column (3) thereof, for the purpose of the said section, relating to imported and export goods.

FAQ :

This notification determines the official rates of exchange for converting foreign currencies into Indian currency, or vice versa, for the purpose of Section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962, concerning imported and exported goods.

The new exchange rates are effective from 17th September 2021.

The notification covers a range of foreign currencies including Australian Dollar, Bahraini Dinar, Canadian Dollar, Chinese Yuan, Danish Kroner, EURO, Hong Kong Dollar, Kuwaiti Dinar, New Zealand Dollar, Norwegian Kroner, Pound Sterling, Qatari Riyal, Saudi Arabian Riyal, Singapore Dollar, South African Rand, Swedish Kroner, Swiss Franc, Turkish Lira, UAE Dirham, US Dollar, Japanese Yen, and Korean Won.

Yes, this notification supersedes Notification No. 71/2021-Customs(N.T.), dated 2nd September 2021, except for things done or omitted before the supersession.

Yes, the notification provides separate rates of exchange for imported goods and exported goods for each foreign currency listed.
