Notification No. 71/2021 – Customs (N.T.)

Dated: 2nd September, 2021

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), and in supersession of the Notification No.68/2021-Customs(N.T.), dated 19th August, 2021 except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs hereby determines that the rate of exchange of conversion of each of the foreign currencies specified in column (2) of each of Schedule I and Schedule II annexed hereto, into Indian currency or vice versa, shall, with effect from 3rd September, 2021, be the rate mentioned against it in the corresponding entry in column (3) thereof, for the purpose of the said section, relating to imported and export goods.

This notification sets the official exchange rates for converting foreign currencies into Indian currency and vice versa for customs purposes, specifically for imported and exported goods.

The new exchange rates are effective from 3rd September 2021.

Schedule I covers currencies such as Australian Dollar, Bahraini Dinar, Canadian Dollar, Chinese Yuan, Danish Kroner, EURO, Hong Kong Dollar, Kuwaiti Dinar, New Zealand Dollar, Norwegian Kroner, Pound Sterling, Qatari Riyal, Saudi Arabian Riyal, Singapore Dollar, South African Rand, Swedish Kroner, Swiss Franc, Turkish Lira, UAE Dirham, and US Dollar.

Schedule II lists the Japanese Yen and Korean Won.

Yes, this notification supersedes Notification No. 68/2021-Customs(N.T.), dated 19th August 2021, except for actions taken before the supersession.

Yes, the notification provides separate rates for imported goods and exported goods for each currency listed.
