This represents a 7.5% increase compared to the previous year. Notably, a significant majority of taxpayers, approximately 72%, have opted for the New Tax Regime, with 5.27 crore returns filed under it. The final day for filing saw a surge, with nearly 70 lakh ITRs submitted on July 31st alone, indicating a successful and timely compliance by taxpayers and tax professionals.
