Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms have given a strong boost to India's economy, creating fresh avenues for employment, especially in the MSME and retail sectors.

Addressing the 17th Rozgar Mela virtually, the Prime Minister said that empowering the nation's youth remains at the heart of the government's economic and policy decisions. Calling the next-generation GST changes "transformational," he said the reforms are helping increase savings, accelerate business growth and drive new job opportunities across industries.

"The nation witnessed record sales during Dhanteras and Diwali, setting new benchmarks. This shows how GST reforms have injected new energy into India's economy," Modi said, highlighting the growing consumer confidence reflected in festive demand.

He noted that the positive effects of these reforms are particularly visible in manufacturing, logistics and distribution, where MSMEs and retailers are expanding operations and hiring new talent.

During the event, over 51,000 appointment letters for government positions were distributed nationwide, taking the total number of jobs offered through Rozgar Melas to over 11 lakh. Modi reiterated that India's "youth power" is a key driver of national progress and said his government is fully committed to expanding employment and skill development opportunities.

The Prime Minister also underlined the growing importance of global partnerships in shaping India's employment landscape. Citing collaboration with the United Kingdom in areas such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, and fintech, he said these initiatives will open new international avenues for Indian professionals and boost the country's exports and technology capabilities.

Union Ministers Jitendra Singh and Ajay Tamta distributed appointment letters in New Delhi as part of the nationwide employment initiative. The Rozgar Mela, launched to fill central government vacancies and strengthen human resources, continues to be a major step toward making India a self-reliant and employment-driven economy.
