The NSAC is a council constituted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to advise the Government on measures needed to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups in India.
The council includes ex-officio members and non-official members representing founders of successful startups, company veterans, investors, incubators, accelerators, and industry associations.
The main goal is to drive sustainable economic growth and generate large-scale employment opportunities by nurturing innovation and startups in the country.
Shri Goyal described startups as the 'New Champions of Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and stated that India has the potential to become the world's largest and most innovative startup ecosystem.
The government aims to be a supportive partner and an 'Enabler rather than Regulator' for the progress of the Indian startup ecosystem.
Shri Goyal stressed the need to sow the seeds of entrepreneurship at the school level and called upon successful entrepreneurs to mentor students and youth.
