The Ministry of Finance has notified the release of a special commemorative Rs 50 silver coin to celebrate the Golden Year of the Official Language Department, as per Gazette Notification No. G.S.R. 412(E) dated June 25, 2025.
Issued under the authority of the Central Government and in exercise of powers conferred by the Coinage Act, 2011, the commemorative coin has been minted with high precision and symbolic significance.

Obverse Design
The front face of the coin features the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar at the center, with "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below. The word "भारत" is inscribed in Devanagari on the left and "INDIA" in English on the right. The symbol "₹" and the numeral "50" also appear prominently beneath the Ashoka emblem.
Reverse Design
The reverse showcases a lotus pattern with petals carrying Hindi alphabets. At the center is a circle bearing the numeral "50". The upper periphery reads "राजभाषा विभाग का स्वर्णिम वर्ष समारोह" in Devanagari, and the lower periphery reads "GOLDEN YEAR CELEBRATION OF OFFICIAL LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT" in English. The year "2025" is etched at the top of the design.
This commemorative coin not only celebrates the linguistic heritage of India but also reinforces the significance of promoting official language usage in governance.
