India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections continued their strong growth trajectory in July 2026, with gross GST revenue reaching ₹2,11,205 crore, marking a 15.4% increase compared to ₹1,83,065 crore collected in July 2025. The latest figures indicate sustained economic activity, higher compliance levels, and robust growth in tax collections from both domestic transactions and imports.

Gross GST Revenue Crosses ₹2.11 Lakh Crore

According to the provisional GST revenue data released by the government, gross domestic revenue stood at ₹1,44,695 crore in July 2026, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 10.1% from ₹1,31,439 crore recorded in July 2025. Revenue from imports witnessed an even stronger performance, rising 28.8% to ₹66,511 crore during the month.

As a result, total gross GST revenue for July 2026 reached ₹2,11,205 crore, compared to ₹1,83,065 crore in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Refunds Rise 13.1% During the Month

GST refunds issued during July 2026 amounted to ₹29,968 crore, an increase of 13.1% over ₹26,495 crore refunded in July 2025. Domestic refunds grew by 7.3% to ₹17,680 crore, while export-related GST refunds processed through ICEGATE rose 22.7% to ₹12,288 crore.

Net GST Revenue Climbs Nearly 16%

After adjusting for refunds, net GST revenue collected during July 2026 stood at ₹1,81,237 crore, up 15.8% from ₹1,56,570 crore collected in July 2025. Net domestic revenue increased 10.5% to ₹1,27,015 crore, while net customs GST revenue surged 30.3% to ₹54,223 crore.

State-wise GST Performance

Among the major states, Haryana recorded a notable 25% growth in GST collections during July 2026. Gujarat reported a 19% increase, Telangana 19%, Punjab 16%, Kerala 16%, Uttar Pradesh 15%, Maharashtra 13%, and Karnataka 12%.

On the other hand, some states witnessed lower collections compared to the previous year. Himachal Pradesh reported a 22% decline, Uttarakhand 18%, Puducherry 17%, Madhya Pradesh 10%, and Andhra Pradesh 5%.

GST Collections Continue Strong Momentum in FY 2026-27

For the period April to July 2026, total gross GST revenue reached ₹8,42,905 crore, representing a 10.1% growth over ₹7,65,607 crore collected during the corresponding period of FY 2025-26. Net GST revenue during the first four months of FY 2026-27 stood at ₹7,21,457 crore, up 9.2% year-on-year.

Outlook

The strong growth in GST collections for July 2026 highlights continued resilience in domestic consumption and business activity. Higher import-related GST collections and sustained compliance efforts have further contributed to the healthy revenue performance. While the figures remain provisional and may undergo minor revisions upon finalisation, the latest data reflects a positive trend in indirect tax collections during the ongoing financial year.
