The Income Tax Department has released the Common Offline Utility (COU) for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR-1 and ITR-4) for the Assessment Year 2025-26, simplifying the tax filing process for salaried individuals, small business owners, and professionals.
The first version (v1.1.0) of the COU was made available for download on June 11, 2025, through the official Income Tax e-filing portal. The zip file size is approximately 29 MB, and it offers a user-friendly interface for preparing and validating ITR-1 and ITR-4 offline before uploading the return on the portal.
