The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has announced that taxpayers can now make GST payments using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Debit/Credit cards across 27 States and Union Territories.
The facility, launched under the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) integration, aims to simplify tax payments and reduce dependency on traditional payment methods such as net banking and NEFT/RTGS.

According to GSTN, the new feature is currently enabled in the following States and UTs:
- Arunachal Pradesh,
- Assam,
- Bihar,
- Chhattisgarh,
- Delhi,
- Goa,
- Gujarat,
- Haryana,
- Himachal Pradesh,
- Jammu & Kashmir,
- Jharkhand,
- Karnataka,
- Kerala,
- Madhya Pradesh,
- Maharashtra,
- Manipur,
- Mizoram,
- Nagaland,
- Odisha,
- Puducherry,
- Punjab,
- Rajasthan,
- Tamil Nadu,
- Tripura,
- Uttarakhand,
- Uttar Pradesh and
- West Bengal.
The system supports all UPI handles and cards powered by RuPay, MasterCard, Visa, and Diners Club, through several leading banks including Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, IDFC First Bank, Bandhan Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Karnataka Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, and South Indian Bank.
While UPI and card payments are now live in these 27 regions, GSTN confirmed that the remaining States and banks will be brought under the network soon, ensuring nationwide availability of this convenient payment option.
This initiative is expected to greatly benefit small businesses, startups, and individual taxpayers by offering a faster, more secure, and user-friendly mode of paying GST dues directly on the official portal www.gst.gov.in.
