The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) is bringing under a common platform seven management accounting bodies from different parts of the world for a ‘Global Summit on Management Accounting’ from January 10-12.

The summit, which has the theme ‘Repositioning the Management Accountant’, is expected to see participation of 1,200 delegates, including 200 from abroad, the ICWAI President, Mr Chandra Wadhwa, told reporters here today.

The summit would be inaugurated by the Company Affairs Minister, Mr Prem Chand Gupta.

Mr Wadhwa said that this was the first-ever summit on management accounting at a global level.

Besides the SAARC bodies, he also highlighted that technical partnership with counterparts from the western world such as CIMA of the UK, IMA of the US and CMA of Canada have been enlisted for the event.

ICWAI is looking to reposition itself as a management accounting body and is already on the lookout for alignments with various management account bodies, especially in the western world, for knowledge sharing, mutual recognition of qualifications and research collaboration, according to Mr A.N. Raman, Chairman of the Global Summit and Council Member of ICWAI.

He said that ICWAI was now in talks with IMA for collaboration in research projects in telecom and retail sectors.
