Ms Truss congratulated India on a forward-looking modern budget with its focus on investments and recovery in the post COVID-19 world, and also complimented India on its prompt and effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Smt. Sitharaman suggested areas of closer cooperation including investments in infrastructure, the insurance sector, and integrating small and medium enterprises in the global value chain.
Bilateral trade between India and the UK has been growing steadily over the past decade, with immense potential to be enhanced further.
The meeting noted that India and UK are working on Customs Cooperation and Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs matters, and also highlighted the India-UK annual Economic and Financial Dialogue.
